While hygiene issues continue to plague people with diseases, there is hope thanks to the efforts of dedicated dental hygienists, progressive long-term care facilities, and loving families and friends.

Although we are very proud of what we have accomplished, there is still much more to do. Many of our patients are people who have no discretionary income to pay for preventive dental care. Therefore, the services we provide to this elderly population are not possible without your ongoing financial support. Equipment alone has cost over $10,000, and this does not include administrative costs, supplies, and hiring experienced dental hygienists.

Until systems are in place to address the needs of the fastest growing population in our nation, the elderly, we rely on community and public support. We are working hard to educate the public and policy makers the importance of stable, good oral health and how poor oral health affects us physically and financially in the health care systems. The elderly are in just as much need for oral health support as the children of our nation. Thankfully the children have support and coverage through Medicaid. Unfortunately the elderly do not have any coverage or programs.

Here are some examples of what your donations can accomplish:

• Under $100 will provide dental products and supplies, and/or materials to promote our program and bring about greater awareness;
• $113 donation will provide a frail elderly person professional dental hygiene service and potentially deter painful broken teeth or abscesses;
• $1,000 donation will provide a day of services to Seniors without the means to pay for professional care;
• $3,000 donation will hire a grant writer to submit proposals for foundation funding;
• $10,000 donation would purchase additional portable clinics to access different regions within the state, many rural with no professionals to provide care; and
• $25,000 donation would expand our program into another state.
